Robotic palletizing integrators: what to ask before a quote
Robotic palletizing is a system decision involving cases, bags, trays, products, layer patterns, conveyors, guarding, and upstream/downstream line behavior. A useful first conversation starts with the product and the line—not a generic robot specification.
Questions that matter
- What product and case variation must the system handle?
- What line rate and accumulation behavior must the cell support?
- How many pallet patterns, pallet sizes, and stack heights are required?
- How are pallets supplied, removed, wrapped, and labeled?
- What guarding, safety validation, operator access, and recovery procedures are included?
- Which assumptions could materially change the budget or schedule?
Compare scope, not robot brands
Ask providers to identify the complete cell boundary: product infeed, sensors, conveyors, robot and gripper, pallet dispensing, guarding, controls, programming, installation, training, and service. A low component price is not necessarily a lower installed project cost.
